El ciclista Franco Victorio hizo que el deporte de nuestra ciudad tuviera presencia internacional, con el valor y mérito de ser uno de los ocho pedalistas que formaron parte del plantel masculino de la Selección Argentina para la disputa del Panamericano de Pista realizado en la ciudad de Lima (Perú) del 10 al 14 de agosto.
Integrante del grupo de deportistas becados por la Municipalidad, nuestro sprinter luego de varias semanas de entrenamiento, fue oficializado para integrar la delegación albiceleste que comandó el entrenador Walter Pérez.
En el Panamericano desarrollado en tierras incaicas, se dio la participación de 19 países y más de doscientos ciclistas en un marco de alta competitividad al observarse a las potencias de Canadá y Estados Unidos con sus equipos completos, más varios medallistas olímpicos y campeones mundiales, ámbito en el que se encontró Victorio vistiendo orgulloso los colores celeste y blanco.
En la jornada inaugural se dio una meritoria performance que involucró al bellvillense, integrando el combinado que llegó hasta cuartos de final de Velocidad por Equipos. Respecto al plano individual, Victorio quedó undécimo en Keirin, mientras que en Kilómetro Contrarreloj culminó decimotercero.
En nombre de toda la ciudad, desde la Municipalidad se transmite la congratulación por el serio camino recorrido por Franco para ser parte de esta cita de jerarquía continental, superando todas las exigencias previas de evaluación y enorgulleciendo a toda una comunidad que lo considera como uno de sus embajadores deportivos.
